Have you recently come across a piece of SHS memorabilia that you'd like to donate to a new home? Are you a creative soul who would like to share your craft with others? Or, do you have something of interest that others might find useful or enjoy having? If you answered yes to any of the questions above, then we would like to talk to you! How was that for a sales pitch?!
We are seeking donations for the SHS 31st Reunion Silent Auction, to be held Saturday evening during the reunion. Donations can include SHS memorabilia, handcrafted items, items from your business, or put your creativity to work and come up with something fun or unique. All proceeds go to the SHS Class of '76 Scholarship Fund.

I'll say I can imagine your horror! When trying to add new pictures to our missing persons post I erased all the pics and entire post twice. But I wasn't the one who copied this, it was some other guy. I'm glad it's here, too.

I cannot believe that the Dink is in that good of shape after all these years? I have some newspaper articles, programs and the like, in a scrapbook that I doubt anyone would bid on, but perhaps we should have a display of some sort for people to look at.
I had to stuff it a little with a grapefruit & some tissue paper--
other than being flattened, it IS in pretty good shape. The magic of plastic storage containers....

I have a large ceramic hot dog on a bun, but you'll never get me to part with THAT...hmmm...let me keep looking. Surely there are other artifacts to be had.
By the way, that is a picture of a hot dog hat that I've thoughtfully added to post...when I found it I thought of Deb and her cheese bra.

I called SHS today because I had to find out about the dinks. I am sad to report that the seniors have not donned their dinks for the past 5 years. There was a problem finding someone to make them so they threw in the towel without a fight. She said they weren't sure if the seniors would wear them even if they could get the dinks. (They might think otherwise when they get to be our age!)
Anyway, help me out. I remember hearing the phrase "Seniors, don your dinks" but I can't remember when. Was it for graduation? When did we wear those sporty little caps?
Deb was recollecting over on the other blog that it was in the Arena, at the Homecoming Assembly, that the seniors were summoned to "don" the "dinks!"
I also asked Kathy Nelsen, because both of her kids graduated from SHS. She says that her eldest-- Class of 2003-- was the first class in SHS history to be dink-less. The company simply went out of business, and the school had bought out the last remaining dinks from the supplier.
I'll be honest, I am surprised that the tradition lasted that long!!! Yet,being the traditionalist that I am, (ha), one would think that they could have just ordered shorter brimmed baseball caps that would have done the trick, and probably would have been an easier "sell" to carry on the tradition. Peg is right, they gave up way too quickly.
Reguarding items for auction; I have some pictures taken at parties from the late 70's that could bring a pretty penny. Are we resorting to blackmail/extortion? (I've seen the list, you know who you are) HAAA!
hello anonymous, I will formally be requesting pictures for the reunion video in the near future. These of course will all be in good taste. Maybe you have a few?
Others can begin thinking about pictures from gradeschool, highschool, previous reunions and anything else that might capture who we were!
I am of coarse kidding about any pictures we may not want our children to see.
I do however have some very old photos from 5th grade photography class at Atwater School, pictures we developed ourselfs. If I can find them I would be happy to let you see if you want to use any of them.

I remember the name Rashki but I can't remeber who he is.
I'm thinking 5th grade where everyone learned Photography and we went to different classrooms in groups. I was in Mr. baumeister's class but grouped with a class next door. The women teacher was Asia and I am trying to get her name. I think you may have been there otherwise I remember Mary LaRosa, Megan Breese, Mike Nierodi(?), Story Ladish(?), Rick Inmann Marina Radicivich. Hopefully someone can help with other teachers name. Am trying to get photos from that class 1968.

Mrs. Morris, she was Japaneese, and did the splits in front of the classroom.
Mr. R was fifth grade teacher, or sixth.
Mr. Baumiester was my teacher too, remember Math Book, Page 18, Test 1,2,& 3. You had to take that math test if you got into trouble. Jeff Alvarado had to take it weekly.
I think we talked about this in a older Blog.
That was sixth grade photography, and the SIXTH grade teachers were Mr. Baumeister, Mr. Rajski, and Mrs. Morris. Story Ladish also has some good pictures from Mr. Rajski's photography class.
I do remember Mrs. Morris, though I don't remember her doings the splits! I think that was her first year at Atwater. Does anyone remember? She made me miserable and was the only teacher I really disliked.
I remember in the summer of 1976, after all those years she called me and invited me to a little party at her house. Did any of you go?

My Mother has warned me the pix I am seaching may have been destoyed in a large fire to their house on Murray and Menlo. I hope not because these are OLD photos. So hello there to Anita (Reppins?) and Laurel (Blackmore?) if that is right. I can't figure out who Deb R. is though. The next time I check in it will be news of photos.

I too lost many photos (and as I recently concluded, Monicas portrait of me) in the big flood we had all over Milwaukee about 10 years ago. We had about 5 feet of water in our basement. Found floating in the raw sewage, aside from our washer, dryer, and the entire contents of our office, were most of my photo albums. The only thing positive is that we lost our tax records so I probably can stop fretting about getting audited and being sent to the "Big House" for tax fraud. Whew!

I did find some pictures of graduation year, I saved all the progams, invites, and a photo of Homecoming kings and courts that was in the Shorewood Herald.
I surely do hope I can find those 5th and 6th grade atwater photos. They are here somewhere. Peggy, I do have the Spain Photos: You, me Patti, Bano, Etc out on the Disco floor with Carnations in our mouths?????

I was working at Tony Cilentos( I know I spelled that wrong) photography place and she called out of the blue in June of 1976, wanting to see all the kids who had been in her first class at Atwater. She was having a party at her house. I declined.
Maybe it was some kind of set up and I was the only one invited!!!
I don't remember a party either and I had her for 6th grade.
